This Privacy Policy explains how Luna ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

By using Luna, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Data We Collect

To provide personalized cycle, fertility, and pregnancy insights, Luna collects only the data you choose to share with us:

  • Email address (for sign-in)
  • Cycle data: period dates, cycle length, symptoms, mood entries
  • Profile context: birth date, mode (cycle / pregnancy / postpartum), goals
  • Pregnancy data (if applicable): due date, milestones
  • Postpartum data (if applicable): baby's birth date, breastfeeding status
  • Journal entries you write in the app
  • Conversations with the Luna AI companion
  • Notification preferences

We do not collect contacts, location, photos, or any data unrelated to your wellbeing journey.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Calculate cycle phase, fertile window, and predictions
  • Personalize insights, articles, and AI companion responses
  • Send notifications you've opted into

Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with marketers.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored securely on Supabase (PostgreSQL hosted on AWS with encrypted communication and security protections).

When you chat with the Luna AI companion, your message and a brief snapshot of your cycle context are sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Anthropic does not use this data to train models and discards it after processing.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate Luna:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and hosting
  • Anthropic — AI model for the Luna companion
  • Apple App Store / Google Play — distribution and subscription payments
  • Apple — Sign-In with Apple authentication
  • Google — Sign-In with Google authentication

No personally identifiable information is shared with advertisers or third parties for marketing.

5. Your Rights

You can at any time:

  • View and edit your profile data inside the app
  • Request a copy of your data (data portability)
  • Delete your account, which removes all your data within 90 days
  • Object to specific data processing
  • Disable notifications or AI features
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

6. Legal Basis for Processing (EU Users)

We process your personal data based on:

  • Your consent (which you provide at sign-up and can withdraw at any time by deleting your account)
  • Performance of our contract with you (to provide the Luna service you subscribed to)
  • Our legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the app

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide you with the Luna service and for legitimate business purposes.

Specifically:

  • Account data (email, profile): retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days after account deletion.
  • Cycle and health data (period logs, symptoms, moods): retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days after account deletion.
  • AI conversation logs: retained for up to 12 months for service improvement, then anonymized or deleted.
  • Backup data: retained for up to 90 days in encrypted backups for disaster recovery, then automatically deleted.

You may request deletion of all your personal data at any time by:

  • Using the "Delete Account" option in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account)
  • Emailing us at contact@iamluna.app

Upon deletion request, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

For users in the European Union: this policy complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 5(1)(e) on storage limitation and Article 17 on the right to erasure.

For users in California: this policy complies with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Section 1798.105 on the right to delete personal information.

8. California Residents (CCPA)

Luna does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale or sharing. To exercise these rights, contact contact@iamluna.app.

9. Health & Medical Disclaimer

Luna is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. Information provided by the app, including AI-generated responses, is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

10. Age Requirements

Luna is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we become aware that a user under 16 has created an account, we will delete it promptly.

Certain features (intimacy logging) are restricted to users 18 and over. Users self-declare their age at sign-up.

11. Subscriptions

Luna offers auto-renewing subscriptions ($3.99/month, $34.99/year) with a 3-day free trial. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
